Albuquerque, Valley, & Sunshine

Albuquerque sees sunshine during 300 days of the entire year. During the other days, Albuquerque tends to see light snow and small rain weather. Snowfall averages about 10 inches or more during the winter months in Albuquerque. This makes Albuquerque an ideal place and location to travel and live in! You can travel anywhere within distance, and you can easily reach your destination within 30 minutes of time. Albuquerque’s local economy is always continuously growing, local businesses prosper here, and there is always great, affordable housing here!

One of the best charms of Albuquerque is the location, the Sandia Mountains, and the Rio Grande River.  A fun fact is that the Sandia Peak Tram is one of the most visited places here in Albuquerque. This is the place to visit with your family and friends! When you stop by the Sandia Peak Tram, you can go to Sandiago’s Grill At The Tram. This is a great place for dinner or lunch too!

Location and Roads

The Albuquerque location allows for national and interstate roads for easy traveling into the states of Colorado, Arizona, and Texas. Albuquerque’s Sandia Mountains offer great hiking experiences and walks. Albuquerque’s Rio Grande River is home to hundreds of species of birds, animals, and fish. The Rio Grande River is diverse and is beautiful.

Albuquerque’s population size is about half a million people, which is 570,000 to be exact in the years of 2015 to 2018. This population size allows for less traffic around town, especially during the morning and afternoon traffic hours. It takes about a 15-30 minute drive around town, which makes it easier for you and your family to complete tasks and have time for entertainment during your stay here in Albuquerque.

Albuquerque is home to diverse shopping and fine dining locations such as Nob Hill District, Uptown Albuquerque, Old Town Plaza, and many other incredible locations. These few neighborhoods, districts, locations, and areas allow for you and your family to really enjoy living in Albuquerque’s beautiful valley. You can spend entire days at the different areas, meet your friends for some coffee, and enjoy the beautiful weather here in Albuquerque!

Downtown Albuquerque is located on Central Avenue in the Valley, and offers places to have meetings, travel with friends, and invite company over to spend a day of entertainment, shopping, and fine dining experiences!

The award winning T.V. series Breaking Bad from AMC television network was filmed here in Albuquerque! Speaking of Breaking Bad, there is a Breaking Bad tour and Albuquerque tours too! Currently the spin-off television series to Breaking Bad, called Better Call Saul is being filmed on location in Albuquerque.  Albuquerque’s film industry is improving and becoming larger every year. You can become an extra and earn some funds here in Albuquerque.

Things To Do Downtown Albuquerque

Things To Do in Downtown Albuquerque include restaurants, museums, coffee shops, businesses, and fun activities! You can simply start your day by checking into the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque for a pleasant stay, where you can access the gym, your hotel room, and a business center. Next you can walk along Central Avenue and stop by a coffee shop such as The Brew Coffee & Tea Café by Villa Myriam or Zendo Coffee. These are two local Albuquerque coffee shops. They serve breakfast and are home to art galleries that rotate monthly. The art galleries have opening days, where you can meet the art and listen to live music. All of the art work is displayed on the walls and showcase incredible talent and art skills.

Albuquerque is well-known for its diversity of arts and culture. You can find some great art galleries here in Albuquerque. Be sure to stop by all the art galleries and museums. You stop by the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History for learning more about Albuquerque’s historical roots and culture. You can see special exhibits here that rotate monthly. Be sure to check online for tickets, prices, and the hours of operation. You can visit and volunteer here too.

Speaking of art galleries, there is a 516 Arts Gallery home to monthly exhibits. The exhibits rotate monthly and show exclusive arts, projects, and ongoing projects within the Albuquerque community. If you are staying in Albuquerque for a long stay, 516 Arts includes opportunities for involvement, volunteer work, and projects around Albuquerque. They sponsor and host talks with local environment, groups, organizations and agencies such as Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge. 516 Arts includes a small gift shop that features printed t-shirts from local Albuquerque artists and other great products for you to browse, purchase, and enjoy!

Other great things to do Downtown is see the city Summerfest which takes place yearly in the summertime. This is a large scale concert and outdoor event in Albuquerque. There are music performances, food trucks, and seats. You can attend the concert for free too!

Restaurants & Places

After walking around for an hour or two, you can visit a locally owned Albuquerque restaurant J.C.’s New York Pizza Department, Tucanos Brazilian Grill, Slate Street Café, Cocina Azul, and many great options for Albuquerque visitors and residents! These few mentioned locations are located along Central Avenue and offer great prices for food. Tucanos Brazilian Grill is an all you can eat buffet style restaurant for large gatherings. Their exotic dishes are delicious! Be sure to gather your family and friends for their dinner.

Slate Street Café offers vegetarian options, wine, and large salads. The pizza is served great and can be paired with a local brew at the J.C.’s New York Pizza Department. J.C.’s New York Pizza Department features a video game room and large areas for gatherings with friends and family after a sports game or before a concert. Be sure to look at their menus and see what you can order and try today!

Cocina Azul features local New Mexican and Mexican food style options, large plates and dishes, and a great location near the Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque. Be sure to walk around Downtown Albuquerque and check online for great food, family fun, and places to eat at. There are great restaurants and foods to try in Albuquerque. Shops and Stores

Shops and locally business places really offer unique, handmade arts, crafts, jewelry, and clothing for all occasions. Skip Maisel’s Indian Jewelry includes hundreds of Native American jewelry, belts, rings, moccasins, drums, and other great locally made items. These Native American items and jewelry are original designs and patterns. You can ask the business about the history behind some of the designs and learn about the culture and history behind the jewelry. Some of the art work displayed is from the surrounding Native American Pueblos and Tribes. You can find great rugs created by the Navajo, which features their talented and skillful art work and designs. This is a large shop with many items. Be sure to browse and look around. Next, you can find some printed t-shirts and baseball caps with designs of Albuquerque and events too.

Also, the Man’s Hat Shop is a great place for hats, clothing, belts, and shoes. They sell at good prices and offer unique items. Be sure to look at their items for sale and learn about their materials. Make sure to support the local Albuquerque businesses and artists. You can find great and incredible gifts for weddings, celebrations, birthdays, and graduations at these few, local Albuquerque shops in the downtown area.
