Cabezon is a master planned subdivision with approximately 2600 homes. Cabezon boasts several parks, an extensive trail system, and a community pool.  There are shade structures and seating along the trail system to relax and enjoy the views of the Sandia Mountains.  Cabezon subdivision has a variety of homes including homes that are priced reasonably.  Cabezon includes town homes, semi custom homes, a gated community, and a few small commercial properties.

Rio Rancho as a whole has a total area of 103.7 square miles, of which 103.4 square miles is land and 0.31 square miles is water. Cabezon homes are located in the 87124. Rio Rancho zip code – (see 87124 zip code boundary map).

Cabezon homes for sale are conveniently located just north of the new Presbyterian Rust Hospital. Schools and Education

Rio Rancho Public Schools, and has 4 middle schools and two high schools. Two of Rio Rancho’s highly-regarded elementary schools are within walking distance from Cabezon Communities.  In addition, Rio Rancho has one public charter school called The ASK Academy. The ASK academy focuses on STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) education, and currently serves grades 7-12.  Rio Rancho schools spend $10,272 per student. Economy

In 2002, Intel opened the Intel Fab 11X, the world’s largest and most sophisticated semiconductor production plant, in the heart of Rio Rancho. A number of other large name companies have also entered the area since, including Hewlett Packard. The rise in opportunities meant a similar rise in the price of many homes. But compared to the economic juggernaut of Albuquerque, the price of homes in Cabezon remains affordable, sustaining the city’s rapid expansion.

Though Rio Rancho had traditionally been overshadowed by Albuquerque, there has been significant growth. In the fall of 2011, a new Presbyterian Hospital was inaugurated in the southern part of Rio Rancho. With the University of New Mexico also building a brand new teaching hospital downtown, the price of homes is expected to rise quickly over the years.

Transportation

Public transportation serving Cabezon includes:  ABQ Ride (bus service), Rio Metro / Rio Transit (bus service) and New Mexico Rail Runner (commuter train).  The nearest major airport is Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ / KABQ). This airport has domestic flights from Albuquerque, 25 miles from the center of Rio Rancho.  Another major airport is Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF / KSAF), with domestic flights from Santa Fe, 49 miles from town.
